Long Shelf-Life Whole Foods

ree

Eating fruits and vegetables is always an excellent choice for your health. However, one issue that discourages families from including them in their daily meals is that they are not always accessible and spoil faster. This factor makes it easy for parents to stock up on ultra-processed foods because of their long shelf-life. We live in a fast-paced world, and for parents, ultra-processed foods make a convenient option to feed children after a hard day’s work. The Jemez Public Health Program consulted Debra Tousley, our Registered Dietician, and developed a list of whole foods packed with nutrients that also have a long shelf life. Read the infographic below for whole food options that are budget and shelf-life-friendly. We have also included a budget and time-friendly recipe below simple enough to encourage kids to help with making their snacks!
