Heart Health Awareness Month -Sweetheart Run

February is National Heart Health Month, a time where all people can focus on their cardiovascular health and learn about ways to prevent heart disease. Physical activity, healthy eating, managing stress, tracking your heart stats and sleeping better are some great ways you can keep your heart healthy. Let us motivate one another to make heart healthy decisions all month long, starting with a Sweetheart Run this Friday, February 10th!

Physical activity is one of the greatest gifts you can give your heart! Regular physical activity strengthens your heart so it can pump blood with less effort and more force. It will also help lower blood pressure levels, cholesterol levels and help to reduce your risk for chronic illnesses like type 2 diabetes! For optimal health the American Heart Association recommends getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity every week. We encourage everyone to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity 5 days out of the week. If you are looking for a way to get started, join us at our community group runs!
Community group runs are held on Fridays from 4pm-5pm at the Walatowa Fitness Center. According to the American Heart Association, families that exercise together have stronger family bonds, and are physically healthier. This Friday, February 10th, we encourage you to bring a loved one to the community group run. This can be your significant other, your parent, child or a dear friend. All participants will receive a small box of chocolate covered strawberries and will be entered into a raffle for a FiTT Store Incentive!
By popular demand, the FiTT Team will be adding an additional day of community group runs to help support you on your trail to health! Starting Monday, February 13, 2023, community group runs/walks will occur every Monday and Friday from 4pm-5pm! Participants will have opportunities to win great incentives at every run! Give your heart the gift of health this heart month and receive a lifetime of wellness! You can do it!
